COPSA has developed a manual and a series of training videos specifically for Adult Day Centers.
Both the Manual and the videos are free for your Center to use.

The Manual

The Manual on Foundations of Dementia Enabled Care in Adult Day Programming includes useful information as well
as worksheets to help the users think through how to apply the content on the job. The 117-page Manual
was designed for self-study or for use in a training group, where staff learn content together with
colleagues and supervisors.

To supplement the use of the Manual, we have created a series of seven videos. Like the Manual, the video series offers basic information about how dementia affects the people living with it. Each video introduces strategies and approaches related to a particular topic area. The Foundations manual provides additional content and practice exercises.

If you are considering how you might use the Manual and videos at your program, you may want to download the “How To” handout. This brief handout provides information and ideas for Adult Day Center administration to use Foundations as part of new hire orientation and ongoing staff development. The handout also includes a description of each video.
